you might want to try dropping some suitable sized feeders in the tank overnight and check the results in the morning (generally small comets are slow enough to be an easy meal). I've never seen a knife, even a dying knife, turn down a feeder.
i have a little CK
and he wont accept any feeders, the other fish just end up killing them.

my knife was a little stubborn for a while but you should use foods that sink. I just converted my gold clown knife thats about 7 inches to hikari sinking pellets. I usually let em soak for a while so it's soft, Then i would sink the food right in front of him(or where he usually hangs) since yours is still pretty small i wouldn't suggest starving him YET until he gets a good 7-10 inches. You should ask the store clerk what they fed him. Keep feeding your knife that until your knife gets to a good size.

im in the process of trying to get my little knife to eat as well, Unfortunetly my lfs stopped selling guppies:irked: so i might have to make a half hour drive to another fish store to get some guppies if he doesn't eat.

my knife gets medium cichlid gold pellets at 4 inches, he loves them and cichlid flake ('cept he spits out the veggie flakes.. hehe) , but I give him quarantineed feeders to give him some exercise (there only 15 cents so it don't cost much right now). Just try cichlid food, mine loves it (most cichlid food is meat flavoured... mmmm...).

most likely it needs to get use to its habbitat give it a week and im sure it will eat

Something I've learned over time and much wasted money:

ALWAYS make the store feed them in front of you! If they don't eat, and they don't have that stuffed clown "belly bulge" DON'T BUY THEM! Let them sit for a few more days before you go home with one, just to pull your hair out.:nilly:

I do this with all fish I'm looking to buy from any lfs.:) It's usually worth it in the end, cause if they'll eat in those little tanks there, usually they'll eat in their palace at home.:D
