I have only recently got my CK at about 10-12" roughly 2 weeks ago but I have not seen him eat anything, I've tried peletts, bloodworm and prawns with no joy, even wiggling the food right in front of him, he also seems to hide all the time. Nothing wrong with water etc.

Can any one suggest a way to get him eating?

wait. eventually he will eat. hunger will beat out starving.

what i would do is try and find out what it was eating before you got him if possible... it may have been fed live food.. they are very sensitive fish.. once they get use to the tank they feel comfortable.. he will come around.. but continue trying different things.. does he have a log or place to hide.. i usually take my tongs and place something right in his house.. so he gets no competition.. sometimes they are shy of their tankmates.. they are not really aggressive as people think.. yes they will eat smaller fish etc.. but they are not mean.. and will starve themselves rather then face conflict in most cases.. hope you can find out what he was eating..

My knife likes floating cichlid sticks and feeders, but dont cave in and give it a feeder!
I have found over the years that larger knives (over 8") are quite shy when introduced to a new tank. They will eat, but only during complete darkness at first. Continue leaving food for it just before you turn the lights out. The CK is an awesome predator and finds food quite quickly. Good luck!
