My clown has always been super active and very people friendly. He would even swim to the top of the tank to be fed, never skittish, always hungry, etc. Recently I put a big piece of pvc pipe in the tank and the clown has made it his home. Now he never leaves it. he won't even come out to eat. I haven't scene him eat in around 2 weeks and you can see his ribcage. i've only scene him once since I put it in and it was at night. however, i'm afraid that if I pull out the pvc pipe he will stress out and die or jump or something. what should I do guys?

Put it in a bucket, rearrange the tank decor, put it back in and dim the lights for a few days. You may have initiated breeding behavior even though it was alone.

Have you tried changing his diet?
...never heard of a clown knife NOT eating.

Did you clean and presoak the pipe before putting it in? They can leak out chemicals if not properly cleaned. It's usually not enough to harm the fish but some fish react differently than others
