It's not an African Brown Knife (Xenothamus Nigri). It's a Notopterus Notopterus. African Brown knives don't have a dorsal fin. Your's does. It'll get 12"-15" These are one of the more aggressive knives, but some people have had some mellow ones.

Agreed... except notopterus notopterus gets two feet, not one. ;)

True...but I think I read that they rarely ever reach that mark in captivity and most top out around 12" to 15"

Thanks guys :)

Do you think he will get on with the fish in my 180 or should i start to make plans for his own tank?

You can test it out in the 180. I hear these guys are the most aggressive out of the Asian species. But I really think that Knife fish are pretty mellow with other fish. I know they can be aggressive with other Knife fish. Just keep an eye on it.

i dont reccomend keeping knives with cichlids, my sisters friend gave me a ck the other day it was about 9-10" it was ok for a day but then it got murdered in the morning by my male rtm, they are too fragile
