Clown Knife Swollen Gill

Hello all,

My Royal Clown Knife has one gill that is severely inflamed. So swollen in fact that it pushes its entire head to the right (the left gill is the swollen one).

I have included external photos below showing the extreme swelling and tightness of the skin. I will try to get photos of the inside of the gill tonight.

Has anybody experienced anything like this? Again, the swelling is just on one side, the other gill is completely normal.

So far, I have treated with clout, prazintaquel and now I am doing salt dips, but none of those seem to be helping much. Tank temp is 82 F.

could be a bacterial infection, my first try at antibiotics is kanaplex since it is reaidly absorbed through the skin. If you don't want to do antibiotics, then get methylene blue and dose at 1 ml per gallon for at least a 30 minute bath. Do this everyday for 7 days and see if it helps. You can use old tank water, and be sure to throw out the bath. You can add salt to the bath if you want.
