On Wednesday I purchased a very nice looking clown knife fish, he was 3 inches long and just shipped in 4 hrs previous to my lfs. I've been searching for one for a while and got him right away. Now i know that it is normal to have trouble getting them to eat when you first buy them so I am not terribly worried yet, but I need advice on what to do. Tried flake, pellets, freeze dried tube afix worms and frozen blood worms, none of which have worked. What should I do next?I am hesitant to go with feeder guppies because I don't want to keep them myself or buy them all the time for him. Any special tecniqus I should try? Thanks in advance!

If your Knife is in good shape then just do as Strollo says and try feeding at night and turn off the lights.
If he is very not in good shape (frail/thin etc) then i would feed whatever he will eat till he is much stronger before trying alternatives.

I had 3' knife die on me that would'nt eat and eventually died, but he was frail
And they so rare here, i waited 4 months for one of my lfs to finally get one, and i bought it same day he arrived. I nearly died when my clown died.

Good luck my friend.

DID YOU TRY FEEDERS? lol this fish probably isn't use to any of those foods yet. And its only 3'' so thats all its probably known. You're the one who is going to have to fatten him up and then start working on a diet for him.

I bought one last week, and I had the same issue as you. However He started eating this tuesday. So just like everyone says just give him some time. I got mine to eat floating pellets after the lights went out.

How many days did it take for yours to eat? Okay, I will be patient

my solution for you is to get market shrimp. packaged. the frozen ones. they are about 5 bucks but will last you a super long time due to the fact that it is only 3 inches. cut it up in small pieces so he can swallow it. thats how i got my 4 incher to be a 10 incher now. he loves his shrimp. good luck bro

My ck is only fish i have yet to eat pellets. Starved for a week or so couple time. Only about 4-5 inches. Only eats frozen foods or live black worms.
