Clown Knife

mine would eat some flakes and shrimp pellets but prefered feeder guppies and as he got larger goldfish
i feed my royal clown knife freeze dried shrimp, new life spectrum brand pellets, hikari brand pellets, earth worms, crickets, live "pinkies" baby mice, quarantined live feeder fish on occasion and more as treats 
some info for you like prestated your knife is first nocturnal soo he may feed in dark seting's (dim or no light ) I rarely put the light on in my knife's tank or any other tank I own for that matter.. he may have been rasied on live food worm's/guppy's or tuffy's is your other fish much larger the the knife??? if so he may be scared , scared fish would'nt eat may not hide but will not eat or your tank is not to it's likeing condition's from store tank to your's tank may be differant knife fish smaller then 6'' are delicate fish !!... 
ya they can definitly go a while without food, i would try maybe some bloodworms, i got my 16" clown on all frozen (silversides,krill,prawn,and fresh fish from the market) i also took the top half of a fishing pole apart and cut off the eyes on it and i use it to target feed him otherwise the oscars, jardini, and florida would steal his food.
