Anyone with a Clown Knifefish, what are some interesting ways/ideas to layout the tank so the Clown Knife remains calm & not spooked?
What's best to put in the tank for ornaments?

To the OP, I would just go with some taller plants and perhaps some driftwood that's more branches than stumps. You don't want to put larger pieces in there because the knives will just hide behind them unless you have larger CK's. Think mangrove roots.:)

I got a CK that's around 3-4 inches atm, I have him in a tank with larger Lava Rock Pieces, Coffin Bubbler & a couple Plants

Anyone else got any other suggestions with layouts for a CK????

I have a BGK and had a 16 inch clown that i got from petco, going off my BGK i would give him a place to hide and enjoy him when he comes out to feed. Soon enough he will be very large and unable to hide. Give him like the guy above said, roots and some plants. Keep your light off to.

just have a lot of dark spots so ck can chill moslty like stackable rocks
some nice size pieces of driftwood and probaly some floating plants

ATM I have Lava Rock Stacked so there's darkness in the tank, also with a plant above so it's very dark (also the dark back wallpaper on the tank helps too) & I have plant branches around the tank

try big pieces of driftwood they can hide under. My CK had it's home in a piece of driftwood for a while. It moved to under a cave of rock.

I have a bunch of Driftwood piled up that the CK like to hide around and under.

Yeah woods great, my CK's favorite hiding place until he outgrew it was a hollow log. I think this holds true for most knives. I got the impression that they mostly like small (like the size of their body) dark places that are enclosed on all sides, except for a hole that he can stick his head out of (and lurk!). When my CK was littler inside his log, It had two small knot-holes that he could get through to get in and out on one end. He would sleep inside head-first, then when he woke up he would stick his head out of the smaller hole to keep tabs on what was going on, kind of like he was spying on me and my friends. He would watch out of his hole until he saw something worth investigating, it was pretty cute to say the least, but I tell that story to let you know the utility CK's seem to want to get out of a space that they call their "home". He tried out every space in the tank, which is elaborateley decorated for knives (lots of hiding places), and that was his favourite. He now lives inside a pvc pipe because he outgrew the log, but I think he still misses it. :...(

large size PVC is key.
but if youre wanting that natural-environment look then i would vote driftwood and stackable rocks.
