Clown loach and frontosa?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We had them at the store in a Malawi setup. There were 3 of them. Their fins were damaged from nips, they were discolored, and they had patchy deposits on the skin. They will live in these setups but it isn't ideal, the same way that keeping Malawi cichlids in an Amazon setup isn't ideal.

I woudn't want to put my Clown Loaches with Africans mainly because most Africans are aggressive. Not to mention Frontosas eat sleeping fish. But all my fish (22 tanks) live in the same super hard water (kh 14). I got 3 Clown Loaches a year ago last month. The biggest one was 5 1/2" (TL). He's HUGE now. He's 8" (TL) and fat as a sausage in the 250 g tank with 9 other Loaches and an Oscar. The other 2 are right at about 7" (TL) but I haven't measured since January. I swear they grown by the day :-O
6 other Loaches I got 20 months ago, they were teeny-tiny, the smallest was an inch-named him "Lil Jaleel". That littlest one is just barely under 3" now-I promise. I wish I could show before/after pics to prove it. I know Loaches supposedly don't do well in hard water but mine do awesome and grow fast . That may be due more to nitrates religiously under 5 ppm than anything else. Anyway-I still wouldn't want to put them with Africans. I like to put my Loaches where they're treated with respect :-)
