From what i've read so far I think mollusc meat's off the menu for my clown loach. I might get lucky and not have any problems but then again it only takes one bad snail and I could put my loach in danger.

Besides, who needs mollusc meat when my worm heap contains so many juicy worms. Chopped up and washed my clowns go mad for them.

Cheers guys.

I'm curious what RD. RD. feeds his MTS to make them taste sour - I like to have MTS as clean-up & sand mixer, but have never been able to keep a reasonable population with any Botia. Utter clicking carnage...

Note: my source is either my own long-term cultures in other tanks or same lines but from client's pond. Apparently clean.

See above - mine don't make it to an edible size in my tank.

My supermarket sells hairy mussels (marine) - fresh & frozen.

Very easy to fatten loaches this way and a good method to condition for breeding.

I don't think the mussel species would matter. The frozen are cheaper and easy to store.
