The batch of loaches I am referring to above was bought in 2012 and they were all baby loaches. The largest is significantly larger than her siblings....So although they all have grown quite a bit, only one has grown really large in relatively short period of time. The smallest one I reckon is a male, about 3 times narrower girth wise than his largest sister, also shorter of course...All his siblings are at least double in girth and longer than him, all females. I think that's why the growth rate because I think I somehow ended up with females mostly....even judging by my subsequent purchases from which I think I only have two males...I am waiting for the small batch to grow a bit to see if I got any more males, so far I think only one from them too...So 13 loaches, from which just 4 or 3 are perhaps males...
hey buddy, why don’t you make your own thread instead of hijacking someone else’s.
What does it matter they are male or female, if no one has been successful in breeding them naturally, and male is not better looking than female or vise versa.

At the very least I would feed NLS Hex Shield twice a day for 4 or 5 days.
Five years to get to 6" seems crazy-slow to me, even for clowns. I've grown out many (50+) over the years and from small LFS size to 6" usually only takes 1-2 years, with a small number exhibiting slower growth (possibly stunted, or just genetic variance). Their growth rate certainly slows down from there though.
The females seem to grow faster and bigger length wise and girth wise.
In 2013 I bought a 5 inch loach. In 5 years she's grown to 9-10 inch, roughly 1 inch per year. She's gravid.
