Clown Loach Fighting

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What are the dimensions of your tank? Likely is has equal or more swimming space then this so called minimum 55g tank.

Depending on dimensions your loaches will do fine in the 40g, they are slow growers so you'll have time.

CLs will fight to be the dominate male. They will also kill of any weak members of the pack. You'll probably not have any more problems just give lots of hiding places for any that get beat up.

I've never observed ANY of this behavior with my CL's... I have 7. All small but one. They all huddle in this plastic root that I got them, and I have had NO dominance issues what so ever, and the Large one was added last. AND half of my CL bunch is from Walmart. So that should tell you weak right there.

If there is a tank minimum, then they should be in it if they are not already, and well, we know they aren't. Its 55 gallon MINIMUM.. so if you have more than 1 or 2 CL's, they should be in a 55 gallon.

People are always on here saying "your tank is too small- not even the mimimum of what they need" and you're saying a 40 gallon is fine.

Maybe I have retarded CL's, but they love swimming in the water, and not just chilling on the bottom floor, so 15 gallons would make quite a difference for them.

A 55 gallon again is only $100. Really not that expensive for a brand new tank. And petsmart if you get it there, even includes the hood and light. So just slap on a filter and you're good to go. And a heater if yours won't heat a 55. You're going to have to upgrade whether you like it or not, unless you get rid of them. they are living things, they grow.. something that just well.. happens.

If I was a CL cramped in a 40 gallon, like I said before, I would be pi ssed*
