Clown loach just up and gone....?

The tank contains:
2 Angels
3 Gouramis
3 Tiger Barbs
and 3 Clown Loaches.

Yesterday when I did the water maintenance all 3 Loaches were there.....Well I only have 2!?! I did have an airstone last night. I've torn the tank to shreds and no fish....What happened to him? Anyone else have a similar experience!?!
 
Did you check the filter? They can slip in nooks and crannies.
 
Well its an Aqua Clear filter. Not much room for him to hide in there. Removed the lid and checked that. I'll pull out the elements and check.

are there any ornaments that he could have somehow gotten into? that's really the only thing i can think of...my bichir disappeared once in a matter of about five minutes...i took the whole tank apart, and then looked up into a weird rock sculpture and he came right out of that..haven't used it since. but when i was younger and had a small two gallon tank with a betta and a tiny sucky type fish, the sucky fish just disappeared one day and i never found him. my mom hadn't, like, taken him out or anything either, because she didn't tend to my fish tank at all
 
I've moved all the ornaments and nothing. Not even the popular loach corner. It even fed again (frozen brine shrimp) and STILL didn't show. I don't think he would have died and been devoured over night?
 
Guys I thank you all for the replies. Red I did look around the aquarium. Today I woke up and 3 are swmming around in my tank. I have no flipping idea where that boy was. But he was determined to not be found.
 
glad he showed up...I had a group of loaches I sold a few years back..there was around 12 but i wasnt sure..well I sold them all and literally a month later a straggler showed up in my tank swimming around like everything was cool..I reunited him with the other ones.
