I've kept clowns with gaint broad leafed anubis, crypts, and java fern just fine. Those plants are cichlid safe so they auta handle clowns well enough. And the anubis and java can be anchored to holey rock, coral, or lava rock if you fear them getting dug up. The crypts once they lay runners down are clown proof.
