Amano shrimps are a great diet for Clown Loaches!

I have a clown loach in a tank full of ghost shrimp. But unfortunately for him, he is still smaller than they are - He's tiny - I got him to dig in some crevasses to end a small snail issue (mission accomplished) and he will soon make his way to a bigger tank. Maybe tomorrow?

I'm sure he's eaten his fair share of any baby shrimp that may have hatched...

So I posted that and it got me thinking... I haven't seen that loach in a few days... but "ah, he just hides alot!" I thought to myself... I'll go move him now while it's on my mind.

Moved a bunch of rocks, moved some more...

Yeah. He's dead. :(

And oddly enough, a couple shrimp were picking at the remains of the body. So I guess you CAN keep them together!

Don't hate me - I might do stupid things but I'm not dumb, and I'm here to learn!

That's the first death I've had in several months, but that was a run of luck, not skill. And the loach did what was asked of him, so it was $3 well spent on a fish I would have killed eventually. Lesson #89,989,875,684,906 learned at MFK!

I guess I don't get your point. A small loach can't eat a ghost shrimp, and I doubt any amount of ghost shrimp could kill a loach.

Point is I'm an idiot. I was reading another thread about loaches and thinking to myself - "I don't do any of these things, I only rely on water changes and luck; I'm gonna end up killing that fish!"

And I had it for a good 4-5 months - definitely helped squash my snail invasion, though.

And then I posted on here about my loach not eating my ghosties because he was so small and mostly they are pretty big and yeah, my loach is dead because I'm an idiot.

But I thought it was ironic that the shrimp were eating it - although those shrimp can get nasty http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46604- so yeah, other than I'm up too late - there's no point!

Don't forget smaller species such as Botia almorhae, Botia striata, etc.
