Mine sometimes start following the salvini and "feeling em" with their barbels, but the fish don't mind.

Mine do this to my ZZ Eel, I look over and go "Oop, he's getting violated again!".

I have five that range from 2.5"-3". Since they are always on the move, they really help to bring the other fish out. I enjoy their activity. They are always either following each other around or trailing behind my cichlids. They behave a lot differently than their cichlid tankmates, so I get a bit of variety from that too. I haven't noticed them annoying my cichlids though. It could be because they are still too small to be a bother. I think you should keep them as long as you can. I would only sale them if they became really stressful on your other fish. Clown Loaches demand a pretty penny when they reach 6+ inches. Think of it as an investment.;)

I can see how they could become a problem when they start reaching 10" and up.

Big clown loaches are never a problem! If they're too big for your set up then there will be someone willing to pay a good price for them. One of the few fish that consistently appreciates in value...

Yeah they are expensive when big. I saw a 10" one for like $60, it was very very bulky and grey... probably because it was by itself in a bare tank where it couldn't move. I thought it was dead until its eye moved :/

I've also seen 4" for $29. Got mine for $9 each and the last one for $20 cuz the owner of the lfs decided to rip me off.

A vendor here on MFK has 7-8" ones for $150 a piece right now. Ive never seen them for less than $50 a piece once over about 5". Right now Petsmart here in town has 2" for $19.99 a piece.

Mine are 6"+. When they were 3" they never seemed to bother the cichlids. Don't get me wrong, I like the loaches. I wish I could have a tank just for them but can't. I suppose I'll keep them around for now though.

HAHA...exactly. Thats what Gruff master was talking about above when he said they were an investment. There are tons of "loach only" fish & tank keepers out there looking for large ones and pay the price because they take so long to growout to 8+ inches.

Mine were great dithers, between 4-7 inches (im guessing) and were characters. They would sleep on their sides in the middle of the day, not caring about the istlanum pair, neets or any other meanies in the tank with them. I vote for KEEP!

If I get a bigger tank and my Jag is ok with tankmates, I might have to get mine back *cough cough dont be mad sarah cough cough*

lol you are free to come and get them whenever you want haha they are pretty cool fish though and i think the largest one is like 6" i think hes a little smaller than my arg, but yeah these guys constantly give me little heart attacks from either lying around looking like they are dead or squeezing into entirely too small caves under my log of wood making me think they are stuck lol so yeah they def have some character to them haha

Ok so what I'm hearing is how much you like CL's. They have character and are an investment as far as fish go. That's all good but don't they drive your cichlids crazy? ;)
