Hey guys, so I recently grabbed some clown loaches and they haven't been as active as my last bunch... any reason for that? It's been about a week and a half and still no change. Also water parameters are good, ammonia at 0, nitrates 5ppm and nitrites is at 0

Are any of the CL'S thin have you noticed any white stringy poop? Are they eating?

No stringy poop and all seem to be fine, no skinny loaches... I am putting prazipro in as a preventative of parasites... also putting aquarium salt to prevent ick

Are the CL's in the aquarium with any other inhabitants?

Don't know how many you have, but the larger the shoal the more social they tend to be, generally speaking. I've also noticed small dither fish like roseline barbs, filament barbs, rainbow fish, etc, can at times make them feel more comfortable and outgoing. Subdued lighting can help sometimes as well.

A week and a half is still some what earlier so maybe they are still getting situated. I like to throw an extra power head or submersible pump for them, it seems to increase activity.

I agree with slippery slimecoat. a friend gave me a clown loach a while back and it was really inactive until I got two more, now they're always moving. They're a shoaling species

Good suggestion here, too. Mine will sit right in front of the current and play quite often.

I agree 100% with powerhead, they love it

I have 13 with the biggest ones being around 15cm and they always super active however I have also found that if they are moved or the tank rescaped they go into 'hidding' and become very quiet for 2 or 3 weeks until they settle and go crazy again

About a month ago due to an electrical problem on a plug behind the tank I had to take down my whole tank to move and at same time I did a bit of a rescape

They are only now the last few days starting to settle and do their little dances all over
I have also found there is nothing like a cube of blood worms to bring them out of their sulking mode!
