My local has a bunch of 3.5-4" CL's for $45 a piece. Havent bought them in 2 decades. From pricing I have seen on marketplace this seems reasonable for retail pricing. What say you loach savvy MFK'ers?
Also, how fast do they grow? Do they tend to disrupt cichlids breeding behavior? Will they take care of MT snails?
TIA,
Danny

The price depends on your location.

They grow slowly, and for decades.

They will sneak steel any eggs around.

You will have no MTS.

Thanks mate. I am in Ohio in the US.
I should have been more specific...will they interfere with mouth brooders spawning like some of the egg stealing syno cats?
Appreciate the feed back!

The CL's aren't near as boisterous as most Synodontis.

If you plan to keep Loaches with Cichlids, especially African Cichlids, it might be better to go with a more durable Loach such as YoYo's or Modestas.

Thx for replying mate. Do Yoyo’s & modestas eat snails? I have an MTS invasion happening. My rays kept them at bay in the main tank but now the rays are gone they’re coming out of the sump in force 😅

Yes, most Botia Loaches eat snails. The YoYo's, and if you are looking for a more aggressive type, the Tiger Loaches, should do the job very efficiently.

Other alternative to modesta, yo-yo or tiger are eos. Look very similar to modesta but stay a smaller more manageable size but have the character to look after themselves.

A201 A201 & Fishman Dave Fishman Dave thanks fellas! Are any of the above mentioned species less likely to interfere with the breeding activities of African mouth brooders?
Appreciate the input.
