Clown loaches pricing question...

The Modestas, aka Blue's Botias, will be far more active, day & night, when included in a group.

A lone Blue Botia w/o an interactive social hierarchy to be involved in, would likely be reclusive.

My Modestas are hyperactive every morning anticipating Feeding time. The dominant one chases all the others. It's completely out of control when food is introduced.

After feeding, the Modestas spend the rest of the day laying around on each other or the rocks.

I will tell you if you have a lot of hiding spots you may never see the blue ones.

Loaches in general, but especially Modesta love hiding places.

If you put an upturned flower pot (with a single hole in the base) in your tank. The group of Modesta will claim it as their space, and mostly you will not see them. Until a few shoot out through the hole en convoy, parade around the tank and dive back down into the pot again.

If you get enough of them - several dozen or more, so that they form a colony, you will understand the politics. The biggest, strongest and oldest, rarely leave the claimed territory, and send small groups of younger soldiers out to forage and reconnoiter.

The colony is run by a ruthless group of elders. If any get weak, they are evicted and ostracized to live in open water, and slowly wither.

TBH I don't see them much in my area, and I jumped on the one when I found it. I had hoped that he would be accepted with the others. The yoyos, polkadot and zebra all get along great. Guess I need a couple more. 🤷‍♂️

The Modestas aren't offered for sale in my area very often either.
I bought my four nearly a decade ago.

I have only seen them offered locally a few times since then.
