i have a clown and a salifin pleco...any cool info you guys can give me on the cute little buggers they are not even two inchs

L083 - Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps (aka sailfin pleco)
size: 18"
care:23 - 27°C
pH 6.5 - 7.8. feed lettuce, peas, frozen Spinach and any prepared food that reaches the bottom (cucumbers, zuccinni and potatoes do well too). When they get larger they'll enjoy prawns or pieces of freshwater trout. Algae (especially soft brown) will be eaten immediately. If well fed they shouldn't touch plants, although are very "clumsy" and often manage to uproot them.
Other:Larger individuals are territorial to conspecifics however not predatory and able to look after itself with all but the most violent tankmates. Not a good pleco to keep with other similarly sized plecos as the gibbiceps would usually win any competition for food.

L104/L162- Panaque maccus (aka clown pleco)
Size: 4"
Care:23 - 28°C
pH 6.8 - 7.6. A wood-eating fish, the tank should be decorated with several different types of driftwood (they would live in driftwood tangles by riverbanks). These fish really like to have something to chew on and squash, cucumber, and other vegetables should be readily available to them (yams are a favourite). I found potatoes to be great for them also, but remember to soak and rinse them to get rid of the starch, that will contaminate the water and remove uneaten material as they cloud up the tank. Supplement two to three times weekly with frozen foods.
Other:A peaceful fish well suited to the community tank provided it has driftwood.

I've kept both these fish before and they only get more interesting with age. Basically one of your plecos is guna grow to be a monster, the other, not so much. good luck with the good pick ups.

so your sugguesting that i move one of the plecos to my 33 galon tank?

should be alright for a while, spec when similar size. just check up on them spec when the gibby is 3 times the size

whats the gibby....the sail fin seems to be getting big fairly quickly...the clown is always hiding in the bog wood...i hardly ever get to see it

BTW - 80% of the 'Clown Plecos' I seen sold are mis-identified.. It's a very common name for any brown pleco with beige stripes.. I have seen atleast 5-6 different species labeled Clown Plecos, easily..

A good picture would be a good way to get a definitive identification.

too true, common names can make things easier, but with plecos, i think it actually makes things harder
