Ok.. I jut posted about my sailfin gone... I noticed my larger clown is moving her mouth constantly... and is not very activ. Salinaty is great... parameters are good as well. I did turn off the Pro skimmer while we were gone cause I didn't want the collection cup to overflow... Please help with ideas.

What are the exact parameters, salinity, and temp? Also, how big was the Sailfin tang? How big is the tank?

The PH is good 8.2, Slight nitrite spike.. .I assume from the sailfin dieing... the sailfin was juvenile... prolly 1 1/2" long / tall. Temp is 80 degrees, I have a 90 gallon tank. I actually saw a bone in the tank... this sucks...

hmmm... well, they were in the "ok" range. The female is actually a bit more active now... is it possible she may be full of eggs???????

might be a lack of oxygen in which why she is gasping her mouth or a parasite could be alkalinity issue or some sort of fighting going on in the tank between tankmate's stressing her out.

Yeah, I was thinking lack of oxygen as well.

alot of time when they are gasping like that it could be due to oily water surface causing a lack of oxygen do you have anything skimming the top of the water?

Well... my water output is pointed to where it breaks the surface of the water, I also have a power head that is putting oxygen in the water and moving water as well. I am new to this so, what skims the surface of the water?
