Clown struggle

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
anything breaking the water's surface is good in keeping oily surfaces from choking the tank's livestock. you could add a sponge filter with an air pump to add more oxygen to the tank.

I went and got this "fan" that moves 900 gph. I definately had an oily film... Not anymore. I hope to go home today to good results. I also have the sponge filter that intermitently spits out bubbles. So, at this point I am moving almost 1500 gph.

OK... the water is moving quite well, definately got rid of the surface scum... as well as my lil protein skimmer finally started working. I looked this morning and the cup had really gross stuff in it, but not trying to overflow like before. The clown it still moving her mouth a lot, and has not fed in almost a week. I will try again today when I get home.

I keep thinking back to the nitrites. There isnt a "ok" range for nitrates in a tank. Once cycled, i wouldnt think that you'd ever see em again. Are you sure the tank was fully cycled or did you give the bb time to catch up when adding fish?

My mistake... I meant nitrates... nitrites are in safe range. We cycled the tank for prolly 3 weeks with rock and sand before adding any fish. What do you mean "BB". Pardon my ignorance.

Thanks.

when i thought u ment nitrites instead of nitrates maybe your tank started a lil mini cycle by addin fish without lettin the bb catch up to the load of the tank. no not now

sound's like she may have an infection in her gill's or a internal parasite's her gill's discolored or her eye's hazy at all???

Not really... her eyes look black, her color is slightly darker around her back. Is there some way I could treat her? I really, really do not want to loose her. Also, I have been reading. My water temp is 79 degrees. Is that a few degrees too high???
