clowns and oscars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have 3 clowns (2-5in, 1-4in) and a 6 or 7in oscar and they get along great.. just make sure tanks big enough.. clowns get just as big as oscars

CLs' growth rate will slow down considerably after they reach around 4" although thy can reach as long as 1ft in captivity...

Right now I've got 4 Loaches each in 2 of the 125 gal tanks, there's 2 Oscars in each 125 g with the Loaches, they do great. I hated to split the Loach group up but they're just so dang useful in an Oscar tank, they're almost getting too fat. Both pairs of Oscars grew up with Loaches and the Loaches are between 4"-6" and chunky. The Oscars just ignore them and I don't think they could catch them if they tried anyway. No more gill spewings flying all over the tank, the Loaches snatch up every bit of it.

I had the same setup and it worked out fantastic!

The clowns will definitely take care of the mess left over after the oscars eat.

Yep got 3 6-7" o's in a tank with 7 clowns, the clowns swim right up with the oscars espescially during feeding time. Best that you get the oscars when they are little, and feed only dry/ frozen, not live fish
