hey guys not sure what to do i've been treating ich for 4 complete days going on 5 today im using Seachems Paraguard at half strength in a 240gal so i'm using 60ml and have my water temp at 88' degrees as per the board says here most places and from what people say at 4 days you should be-able to notice a difference in reduction of the white spot count on the clowns but this is not the case???? is it because the half dosage so will this double the amount of days it will take to cure?? or is the dosage just not potent enough??? should i try a new MED?

there off i beleive thats the correct thing to do. Is that right??? to help reduce stress?? all the fish are eating and swimming as normal!!

That's correct :) I would leave the lights off until the ich is gone. The ich spores love light, and without it (or a host) they will die off. How often are you doing water changes and vacuuming out the gravel? I would also cover the tank to keep out the ambient lighting. I don't use meds to treat ich normally. (I have, and occasionally depending one what fish has it I will). Typically I use the salt, heat, and no light method and have had great success with it. When my loaches had it, thats how I treated. I have not used Paraguard before, so I don't know about it or how good it is. However the bottle says to use 5 ml for every 10 gallons, so if you want to continue this treatment, I would use it as the bottle says and dose fully.

alrighty ill try covering the front of the tank and maybe increase the dose i know loaches really hate salt and are senseitive to med but ill slowly increase dose to full thanks alot its weird how none of my other fish show any signs of it just the loaches

They are usually really resilient. When I use salt in my loach tank, I only do a half dose of it. I never had any problems with using salt in that amount. Think about it though. Where do the loaches sit? At the bottom of the tank where all the ich cysts fall off.

How often are you vacuuming the gravel?

You'll end up using more meds, BUT I always do a water change everyday w/ vacuum gravel. W/C reduces the free swimming parasites by a lot.

Give paragaurd a few more days, if no improvement, then move on to the next medication.

Good luck and keep us updated!!!! :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

vac everyday w/c every other they usually swim in and around the middle to top in the bubbles and powerhead ya i gave them a stronger dosage today and now in a predicament i can get my hands on a year old TSN and a year old Aro and the guy is willing to take my loaches off my hands even with the ich he says its no problem for him to cure so per say whats the chances the ich in the water are dead but just the remaining parasites on the fish them selves???? I wanna do this and if so ill be selling all my fish except my adult Blue Crayfish and adult Stripped Rapheal Cat and neither of those crus./ fish present any signs of the ich what should i do prior to bring home the new 2 monsters??? should get rid of the fish put my cray and SRC in a med tank will i get rid of all the old water and sand and dry out all my fake plants and rocks then re fill my tank and use a cycle product to speed cycle time???/ dunno what to do lol

The ich will still be in the tank, and it wouldn't be a good idea to bring new fish in. How many loaches are you trading for those fish? Also how big are your loaches? Just making sure you aren't getting ripped off, loaches get pricey the older/bigger they get. I would quarantine the other fish from the tank, away from the new fish (if you get them) But the ich is in the substrate, and free floating. Also, that cray and raphael will be that Tig's lunch as soon as they meet. I made that mistake with my own cray. If you quarantine long enough, with out a host, the ich will die off. Normal ich treatment is usually at LEAST 7days to a few weeks (to be safe). I've been battling saltwater ich for over a month, so please be careful.

i have 8 loaches and there all small like 2inchers even though the Raph is 8-9 inches and fat as heck lol and the cray is like 8 inches and hides all the time inside a fake rock lol they will still be eaten by a 20incher TSN??? i think ill trade in all my fish at a LFS that knows whats going on with my ich (good friend works there and will treat till full recovery)(minus the cat and cray hopefully lol) and just toss the old sand and water 100% and dry out all rocks and plants fully
