clowns + ich!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
can i use cold tap water to do a 50% W/C as i have no way of using hot water to do a W/C (soft water system on hot) and ill use a little bit of Stability with the change??? the water now is 88 degrees i could add incremints of 10% back in per hour to help the temp change would that help

clowns plus ich= bad!!

ya i found that out if i knew they were so prone to ich i would of stayed away from them but took them on trade for two 12" algae eaters on a wimb kinda thing the ones i received were good till i bought 4 more from Petsmart (never buy from them again my bad )

Don't do a 50% change with just cold. Change maybe 10- 20 %, focusing on the gravel more for now. Then do another tomorrow, and the next day, but just little increments for now. You have a big tank, and that would be a big shock. Make sure if you tear everything down, that you do let it cycle properly before you get the TSN, (i know I said Tig earlier) and Aro. Yes that cray can easily be the TSN's snack.

That's correct :) I would leave the lights off until the ich is gone. The ich spores love light, and without it (or a host) they will die off.

I don't think that is completely correct. I could be wrong, but as far as I know, no stage in the ich lifecycle requires photosynthesis.

Leaving the lights off is still a good idea because the infected fish will be less stressed.
