I was in the grocery store yesterday looking for some mussels for my loaches when I stumbled across a can of whole oysters.

Has anybody fed these to their CL's yet..??.seems to be a good supplemental food...I tried feeding it to them this morning, chopped up 3 and placed in the tank, 2 minutes later no scraps...

Opinions???

Never heard of oysters packed in a can. Any additives added in there? If there is, then try to buy from a market the fresh ones instead. Make sure all the foods you are giving to your fish do not have additives. Loaches, for your information, relish a lot of foods and most of these are crustaceans and mollusks.

Go to an asian market, look for green mussels on the half shell. Loach crack!

do loaches eat minnows? I put some in for my dats and i come back from dinner to find just corpse that look like they were atacked by a triger fish.

Depends which loach species you are talking about. What loaches do you have? Leptobotias and a few other genera with big mouths will. Loaches are opportunistic and it is not surprising they will scavenge over dead fish as well.

Forget the salmon eggs, that will cost too much. Buy the largest smelt you can find, cut the gut open, and find loach food.

Thanks now to find Smelt? Our area's Grocery's store version of Gourment Seafood and fish department is a freezer full of breaded fish filets...:nilly:
