CL's spawning question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There have been successful breedings via hormone injection, and some spawns with no successful fry produced.

^What they said.

It's tough to recreate their natural environment and you have to wait till they are mature, which takes 5-10 years. :(

I see you are starting a small pack.

Has anyone here had CL's lay eggs or spawn?
If you go to www.loaches.com, you will see Colin Dunlop and Oliv recorded their clown loach spawnings. The latter however used hormone injection whereas Colin unsuccessfully hatch the eggs but still his loaches did spawn naturally.;)

Should have asked if anyone has had a female drop eggs. Found info after posting question.:irked: Was wondering because the four I picked up today supposedly have dropped eggs and did not know if that was common or not. And JD_MAN, I had not watched a school of them before seeing yours and thought I would try a scaled down version.

I would question the information you got about them dropping eggs. It would be very uncommon. How big are they?

Two of them are over 8" and very fat. So the egg laying part is unlikely. That was what I was trying to find out. The guy that had them said they have been together for a long time and recently dropped eggs.

Ask him records of how these fish have been behaving, what he has been feeding them, where they laid eggs and his tank maintenance schedule. All these questions are to be answered because as this case rarely happens, we have the right to doubt the claims until proven that this is true.

a guy in scotland aparently bred them naturally but got no viable eggs. it was in practical fish keeping i think. i dont think he meant to though so he was unable to reproduce the event.
