Hey I plan on getting some plants for my 72 gallon aquarium and I would like to add co2 system to help them grow. I know what I need to start it it's just the regulator I would like to get is only manual so I would have to turn it on and off my self. I know you need to have it on for 6-7 hours a day but the question I'm wondering is is there a way to decrease the amount of co2 output so I can have it on for 24 hours rather then 6-7. For example instead of having 4 bubble per second for 6 hours can I have 1 bubble per second for 24 hours? Or is this a bad idea?

Not a good idea to have it on all day. You will poison your fish and plants with that much CO2. Your plants/fish need O2 as well and it's best to supply that at night. Generally you shouldn't really have you CO2 on for more that 12 hours in even the heaviest planted tanks. Just get a reg. with a solenoid. Create a rhythm and watch your tank thrive.

It's not that expensive if you know how to shop for it (welding suppliers, eBay, Craigslist) I got my system for 180 with a 20 gal tank E regulator. Tubing, valves, and reactor. I won't need to fill my tank for probably another year. Lol

I wonder if there is a fish supply thrift store out there? Business idea!
A) Do you know any good places to shop online for plants? I looked at ADA but all their stuff costs bunches of money.
B) where can I get that plant care tool kit you had? I know connor spent a rediculous sum on his but I remember you saying you got it for less.

Go to plantedtank.net and buy a pre assembled regulator. If you DIY you need a dual stage regulator with the proper connector to hook up to a CO2 tank, needle valve, check valve and solenoid (this will allow you to turn off your CO2) plus the fittings. You also need to build a PVC reactor to get the CO2 in the water. You should also have a ballpark way of measuring CO2 like a drop checker with 4 dKH solution or a pH monitor. If you get a pH controller you can hook it up to your solenoid to control your CO2.
