Let's say I have a tank and a regulator. What else do I need? Also, can I just add the Co2 to my W/D filter??? Please help, I'm so confused.:screwy:

You need a tank to hold the CO2, a regulator to regulate the flow, a diffusor to diffuse the C02 If you run a W/D you are just going to outgas most of your C02.

Is it even worth putting this together then? I have the tank and regulator. I have a 30 gallon sump wet/dry filter I run with a fluval 305 on a 110.

Apparently wet/drys are not good to use with CO2, all the turbulance and increased water surface allows the CO2 to escape too easily. Surface agitation is also bad, so the 110 is not the bestest idea. It seems like people are either going with cannisters, internal filters (like sponges attached to powerheads) or no filter at all.

Now, I am just learning most of this, so take my advise with a grain of salt. I am sure some of the more knowledgeable fellows here will point you in the right direction.

P.S. There are some plants that don't need extra CO2, so you can maybe go that route?

One of the other reasons for using the Co2 is this is my Discus tank. It will help me keep the ph down. I thought I could get a good jump start on some plants to help with the water.

Read the stickies. All the info about co2 setups is in there. As far as filtration, I haven't put up the filtration section yet, but plan to in the next few days or so.

My freind has a beutiful planted Discus tank. He runs T-6 lights with Co2 for 6 hours per day. He also has a W/D filter. How does this work for him?

Depends on what species of plants he has. Also depends on the rate of CO2 introduced into the tank.

Put the CO2 at 10-12bps, and just might compensate for the w/d setup. I run mine at about 3b/2sec (into my canister) and I have great plant growth.

w/d filters are basically defeating the purpose of CO2 injection.

Now, if there wasn't CO2 injection, then w/d would be beneficial. Constant surface agitation would actually draw CO2 from the atmosphere into the water, as the plants used up the CO2 that was dissolved in the water.

tank, regulator, needle valve, silicone tubing, bubble counter and diffuser or they sell the two in one counter/diffuser. run the diffuser under the intake of yuor canister filter to let the impeller of the filter break up the bubbles even more and it will help keep the co2 from escaping too quick. what kind of lighting are you using
