Resently I found a large cockroach in my room and began attepmting to kill it however as I chased it, it made a mad dive into my fish aquarium. It lived for less then 8 seconds.

Now I am wondering

A: Are cockroaches safe for my fish to eat?

And

B: Could they be used regularly for food?

I have a ton in my shed, and these aren't palmetto bugs either, nor are they small. BIG. I was thinking I could capture them and feed them healthy stuff for my fish like you might do with crickets?

they shoud be fine as a food source, only thing id be concerned with is what theybe been climbing in and out of around the house. could introduce some nasty stuff. better to buy a clean colony and breed them

A frind of mine i feeding his Arowana cockroaches on regular bases, When ever he catch one in his kitchen it goes directly to the tank:D
And it looks great

You can buy roaches? Where? lol.

I just fed my Jack Dempsey one, he annihilated it along with his tank mates.

roaches vs. Cichlids 0 - 2

Uhm... Why do people have cockroaches in their house? Isn't that kind of well... dirty?

beware feeding house roaches. they can be dirty and might hold small amounts of pesticides.

Lots of reptile keepers breed roaches for lizard food.Like the others said Id worry what its been eating.

Let me rephrase that....

If you have roaches in your house for no reason, then you're probably missing something... like Lysol...
