NORMAL cockroaches don't just come to your house to be there for no reason. I don't have roaches in my house... The only people I know to have had roaches in their house are people who don't know how to keep clean..

It's not like they are Madagascar hissing cockroaches. It's not a bad assumption it's just an observation.

One word... Fumigation.

I know I wouldn't be proud of posting that I found a roach in my house.

I lived in FL for 6 years and TX for a few months...roaches are a normal part of the scenery in the warm part of the states. Always kept a clean house and you would still see the occasional one in the house (kind of like finding spiders...it happens). They were almost definitely in the garages, and in my carport shed thing in TX there were a ton, because it had lots of openings to the outside. Fumigate all you want, but you still occasionally get roaches down there. The teeny tiny german roaches are the the "dirty" ones, if you have a lot of those you might want to bug bomb and really look at how clean your house is ;). Or, I know I went to a friends house once and there were tons of roaches crawling on the walls and furniture...THEY were dirty, yuk. Up here in the colder states yes, you really only find roaches in really dirty places.

But yeah I would be careful about getting them wild..maybe quarantine and dip them in water to make sure any pesticides are gone before feeding (just to be safe?). A lot of people use borax around their homes, you don't want that in your tank.

Wow, throwing stones are we? I bet you anything there are roaches crawling around in your bed at night.

I'de hesitate to feed 'em.. just like crickets, worms, ect.. until you know what they are and aren't eating.. roaches are notoriousely hard to kill. So they could potentially be loaded with all kinds of things you don't want your fish eating. I'de prolly catch a bunch and toss 'em in a critter keeper type deal and feed 'em some cichlid pellets ect, for a week or two if I was gonna do it though. At least flush their system abit, and gut-load 'em.

Lol...the scariest day of the year was pulling the fake christmas tree out of the box in the garage... guaranteed to find 3 or 4 roaches in there! But it was even scarier to buy a real one that had been sitting outside for god knows how long. :naughty:

I used to breed 'lobster' cockroaches for my rooster. He loved them.

They're very easy to keep/breed, and much cleaner than crickets.
- Take a 20 gallon plastic tub, cut a big hole in the lid and cover it with flyscreen.
- Then run a bead of vaseline around the top of the tub to stop them climbing out.
- Fill the tub with the carboard apple trays (get them from the supermarket/grocer).
- Dump in clean roaches that you buy from a reputable breeder.
- Add enough carrot so that it is devoured in two days with nothing left. The carrot provides all of the moisture/food the roaches need, but if you want to bulk them up even quicker, you can give them a little bit of dry dog food.
