Cobra Pike

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well ripley it happened. He lives about 6hrs away so hopefully by the time they grow for the aquarium one of us will have a new cam. this is about the 4th or 5th batch and finally got some.
I know temp was/is 80 and during wc he used SA Salt or buffer. fed em 3 times a day with dif food ea time and rotating the food as well. Think he might have used one of the breeding juices as well since he was asking me about them.
They are the only 2 fish in a 120 with sand, branches, java moss, slate and 2 big rocks.

Ditto, that would be very very very kewl. I don't think cobra pikes have been spawned yet, so it will be a big deal. Documenting it and everything is a must. Wayne Leibel will definately have something to say...;)

Yeah, I'm sorry but I'm not gonna be able to believe the breeding until we get pictures to actually confirm, THEN I'll believe. A lotta people talk, and say they've done it but its never happened. So get the pictures rollin to prove it...cuz would really like to see. Lugubris pikes are hardly ever spawned in the home aquarium, so if it has been done its something to really be proud of. Get pictures, you could get published in a magazine if you actually pulled this off. Document the pH, temp, and other parameters, cuz seriously, finding the trigger to get Lugubris pikes to spawn could help cut back on wild imports and also drop prices.

Oh i'm 100% sure mine have spawned. I'm also sure i had fry at one point but i think the female ate them when i got in the tank to do a water change. i had let the tank go for about 2 weeks with only doing water changes from the top and the water was starting to get dirty so i had no choice but to get in there and when i did the female ate them, or at least thats what i think happened beause after not eating for almost 2 weeks she suddenly starts eating again . there where also times that the male would go gaurd the fry that i never saw and the female would swim around and after a few minutes she'd go back to the same spot and the male would start swimming around again. i can now tell when they are getting ready to spawn because the male lets the female gorge herself and he seems to only eat what she doesn't want. they are accually very sweet together. Never any bullying what so ever and its fasinating to watch. i have a couple lovers :)
