cobra pike

Not exactly sure, but most Lugubris pikes (cobras are a lugubris group pike...;) ) start their subadult color changes around 7 to 8"......then at around 8.5 to 10" they should start to get into their adult coloration. By 12" they should def. have their adult colors. Now keep in mind not all pikes follow this rule, some may take longer than others of the same species. It all depends on food, tankmates, and the like. Most Lugubris pikes go through two color changes...the first...at around 7 to 8" is called the subadult coloration, or the teenage stage. Its called the teenage stage because its when most of the pikes get their most aggressive, mood swings..the like. After that comes the adult coloration...very kewl to see. Most of the time they mellow back down, some don't though. Again, each individual is unique. Cobras will go through both color changes, really awesome to watch. I'll get some pictures soon of mine since they are starting to go into their subadult coloration right now. Not long till they hit adult! :D
