Yep, that's a marulioides alright! Congrats, very nice!

Marulioides actually can be kept in community tanks... (i have anyways). Marulia,,, ehh, not for long. Marulioides also don't grow as large as marulia either. Beautiful gold dust spotting on their bodies. Change colors almost like chamelions... definitely in my top 5 favorite sp.

marulioides are fairly fast growers... close to marulia, maybe a bit slower.

i'm bad at guestimates??!!

Can you think of a channa that gets to around say - 12- 18 inches that is not that fast growing?

the channa striata has a false ocella at the end of it's, 'top' fin. it fades away with time..
