Im sure if need be, you could just stay in your own home and eat one, buy a frozen one and cook it.

yea but where am I going to find a frozen one in the market? lol all we have are 7' live sturgeons and Cods and lots of Tilapia and lots of frozen fishies :grinno: but no frozen sh

so is this a pic of a juvenile Channa Marulius? This pic is from google images. I don't own this photo. Its all thanks to the tropicalfishimports

Ahhh, i have seen this one in the fishshop (i am not in the states ^^)

I thought it was fairly colourful for a snakehead. Does the coloration stay as it grows older?

from youtube vids and some adult pics on google they don't...they look very dark in color like dark brown to black with a much darker color patchings on the sides :nilly:

If you go to Asian markets like 99 Ranch, they have some frozen or thawed under the name "Mud Fish"

You know in Laos (or Thailad), when people (non-fish keepers) see juvenile arapaima they say it is a snakehead first. In fact, i got alot of jibes from my friends when they first saw my puny (then) paima ^^

In fact one of the names for it (translated directly from Thai) is Amazonian Snakehead ^^.

Of course, when it grows it looks less and less like a snakehead.

HAHAHA dude a few years back when I was getting into the hobby and all and like we went to a LFS right and then I was a lil baby 6-7" Arapaima and I thought it was a Snakehead back then...until I found out a few years later Snakehead were illegal so its highly unlikely it would have been one out in the public...99 Ranch up near by is near my school...so might stop by their afterschool and bring a big piece for the whole family :)

the pic phulltank showed is early juvie stage from this they change to the transition stage (allough the one in the pic is pale)

from there they go to the adult stage as my pics (sorry for poor pics) mine is actually psuadomarulius ,but looks very similar
