So cool, the spangling is on another level. What's very interesting to me is the anal fin spangling, I think that's only seen in Kelberi, really odd that Intermedia and Pinima produce this as neither of them have it. Maybe some recessive gene(s) present in both (if not more) Cichla. Also who is selling them?

I am sure there's kelberi in the mix that was my first through as well. Cichla Game definitely isnt what it use to be.

I've been very curious about this "hybrid" so I reached out to the Sisik Hias farm. I heard from vendors that it was a Pinima x Intermedia cross but the actual breeder stated that no, in fact these are the spawn of pure Piquiti and that the unique patterning is a genetic mutation. He was adamant about them not being hybrids. So unless someone wants to sequence CO1 and compare, that's the best we have to work with. Piquiti and Kelberi share water systems to perhaps this is some extremely recessive gene(s), but still very cool!
