^that is one of the reasons i like my state(i would love but they make it hard for me to have a serval, i will get one!!) I could have one if i wanted!!

how hard are these to care for?? Im really considering one.... caiman first though
they are pretty straight forward once they get started. keep them warm, give them water and a place to hide, and feed them 3 times a week (elapids have a very fast metabolism), and don't get bit. I would suggest finding a mentor in your area that can teach you about how to handle them and what safety measures you need to undergo first.

So I've been wondering for a while...Does HOT stand for anything or is it just a common label for venomous reptiles?
You don't touch a hot stove and you don't touch a hot snake. That is where the term came from.

to awesome. I never knew you could keep these snakes as pets.
It is difficult to go through the permitting in FL but you can get it in about 2 years of a lot of work and paperwork. I don't know about other states though.
It's not something I would suggest just jumping into though. You should be well versed in non venomous snakes before even thinking about getting something like this.

Wow you got some guts dude, I would only do that with thick gloves lol. But Im surprised that they are not eating, didnt the breeder like make sure they ate before selling them?!
I would not be able to properly hold the snake in the tube if I had gloves and even "snake proof gloves" can get bit through if you are unlucky enough to have the snake bite near a seam or through a stitch so it is not worth it at all. They were 4 days old when I picked them up and they were living on the yolk still so they did not eat (but that is a part of the reason I got them for such a steal).

Thanks everyone for the comments.

I've been bitten by a venomous snake a few years ago and it was no pinic. The types of snakes you are dealing with are on another level so please be careful.

you got some brass balls bro lol.
i used to catch copperheads at the creek till i found out they were copper heads.

You've got some serious balls. Good luck getting them to feed, they are awesome snakes by the way :D

I hope to get some venomous snakes (and maybe a gila monster) when I get my own place.

Get gila monsters, venomous snakes are boring;)

I just found a shed in with the albino (female). I'm thinking that is a good sign that she is growing. both of them turned down their pinkys though. I am gonna try again this weekend and if not, break out the tube and tweezers again...

How long have they been without eating? I think your kind of overreacting, Ive herd of snakes refusing to eat allmost one year since they have hatched, unless their body condition starts to deteriorate you have nothing to worry about.

Cobras are different than boas and pythons, their metabolic rate is much higher than that of a boa or python and they need to eat at least twice a week (3 times a week while they are growing). They have been without food for 2 months and the yolk fat is completely gone. I might give them another week until I force feed again but any longer than that and they may start to become weak.
