Sweet! How big are they?
they are currently just under a foot long and about as big around as my pinky finger.

that's good news. Let the growing begin? The fed soley rodent prey?

yes, they will eat mice and rats for the rest of their lives which is nice since I've been having to catch frogs and lizards to try and jump start their appetite. now, I just reach into my freezer and pull out a meal for them.

Are they still deadly even at that small size? How large will they eventually be?

yes, all venomous snakes are born with their venom. at this size, they cannot exactly control the amount of venom that they inject however which could go either way if I was bit since there would either be no venom (a dry bite) or have all of the venom injected.
they will grow to be nearly 8' as adults and should be fully grown within the next 3 years.

yep, I have a pair of eyelash vipers too and am planning on getting some more, just not quite sure what yet...

Those are nice vipers you have. You should post pics again for those that haven't seen them.

Can they mate in captivity?

I will get some good pictures of them up some time this weekend.
All animals can mate in captivity, we just haven't figured out how to do it with everything yet but eyelash vipers readily copulate and produce in captivity.

I hope the hospitals near you stock antivenin. Sooner or later you WILL get bit. Even the most experienced snake keepers and handlers get bit.

Cool snakes though.

Not neccesarily. If your careful you can prevent being bit.

I understand that the risk of this is huge but I know of numerous people that have been keeping for over 30 years without a single envenomation. I do have protocols in place though if a bite were to occur. I have talked to local hospitals and have Miami's Venom One unit on speed dial too.
