I collected a good number of American Cockroaches for my Bullfrog. I put them all in a ten gallon tank to make sure they where all edible. Soon they began to reproduce :nilly: and they are pretty cool too. ANY WAY, I'm trying to figure out what the best foods would be to feed these guys. Please remember that they are still food so take that into consideration.

Thanks for you time.

I know for the exotic species cut up veggies work. Try some greens, carrots and corn...let us know if it works (so we can be sure to never leave greens, carrots or corn laying around ;) )

Roaches will basically eat anything. I feed my dubia roaches leaf lettuce, carrots, squash, corn, cereal, dog kibble and tropical fish flakes. But by far their most favorite thing to eat is mango baby food.

american roaches are pretty horrible..probably the only insect that actually creeps me out..

but yeah, a high protein diet is best for them, but you obviously want some good calcium in there as well to sustain your Bull Frog. dried cat/dog food would would work, throw in some orange slices and dandelion/collard greens in there for added calcium.

They also enjoy dead things....
I cannot remember what show it was.... but I remember the guy was making some sort of point about cockroaches and had stuck his leg in a box of roaches for x amount of time and when he pulled it out they had eaten the dead cells off his leg... so all the hair and the top layer of skin cells so that his leg and feet where all smooth and soft... like going to a spa..... was pretty neat.... not sure how nutritious that is for them but yeah....thats....that....

Well... I must say these are some interesting replies. ;) Sounds like I've been on target with the current diet of dog food and the high calcium cricket foods. Thanks for all the replies, I'll be sure to see what they think of the baby food. :)

put a low cup with a wet paper towle in it for water otherwise they could die of thirst

u better be careful they dont escape because they will infest your place unlike the exotic species. put vaseline around the top of the container for an extra precaution b/c babies will slip thought the openings
