Although fresh may have more vitamins or nutrional value, you have to watch bacterial issues......also allergies-(Amnesic shellfish poisoning )

Yeah it would be terrible for your fish to forget everything:ROFL:

If you keep the fish in the fridge or freezer you should'nt have too many issues with infections etc.

So is candy... :grinno:

I've recently started buying market shrimp for my plecos (first time i've ever bought shrimp, not a fan myself). I just pickup 3-4 shrimp at a time and add 1 a night till they're gone, then get more when I go grocery shopping a few days later. At first I kept the shell on, but now I usually peel them. Otherwise I have to fish out the shells in the morning which I'm usually not thinking about, nor wanting to do, that before work.

So...+1 to Oddball's reply.

So I guess another part to my original question =)...Will they eventually eat shell to? Is shell safe?

Large fish will eat the shrimp, shell and all. For small fish, I omit the shell when I cut up the shrimp for feeding since it's usually left to fall to the bottom of the tank. I drop crayfish molts and jumbo shrimp shells in my tanks with apple snails. They eat any remaining meat and viscera and scrape the shells for the calcium and minerals they need for shell growth/strengthening.

one time i went fishing and we forgot bait, so we got some shrimp cocktail and played the old one for me one for the hook game. we didnt get a single bite. just thought i would share this to confirm that most fish wont like it. I think the cooking of it alters the smell greatly. less oils for sure after boiling

I didn't even think about the use of the shell for snail food thank you =)
