I think there are a lot left there just so deep that we cant get an accurate count. But there are more than 100

Why would you say that?

because I only hear people talk about this fish..... I saw pictures of the fish (dead fish) taken off the coast of Africa taken in the 80's. I haven't seen any recent evidence of this fish's existence - videos/photos.

I just finished the book "A Fish Caught In Time" by Samantha Weinberg. I highly recommend it. It's a history of the Coelacanth as we know it up until about 2000.
