Nope, a guy that has the cash to collect one of these doesn't use FedEx to ship anything. He books a private flight him self. Customs comes to the plane and shakes his hand and asks him how the flight was and if they can help him with his bags.

And he is going to pack a Coelacanth in his luggage? :screwy:

LOL I'm just talking here. Not like this will ever happen. But a guy that collects one of these monsters, with the intention of keeping it in his home aquarium has resources. I think the tricky part would be collecting it not shipping it.
Also, I don't personally know a US citizen that owns an Asian Arowana and I never smoked a Cuban cigar or took a private flight into the US and cleared customs in the above example. That is all just speculation......

hehe sounds much like an article from nat geo a few months back.. anson wong or something like that

i know a person that owns an asian arow and have smoked a cuban.. ;)

if you have the resources it would be possible to get one.. but so many laws would be broken.. best left for only drug lords to own coelacanths..

So you get my point? Getting one of these would be the hard part, relatively speaking. Obviously getting through customs is an issue but that is a drop in the bucket as far the big picture. Actually a drop in a lake would be a better ratio to how difficult collecting a live one would be vs. clearing customs.

Not only are they CITES 1, but I don't believe anyone has successfully kept one alive in captivity.
