That's an old fishing trick. You really should purge the worms before feeding rays. (keeps the tank cleaner too).

I'm guessing squeeze the poop out of them. I was watching my peacock eel eat a nitecrawler one time and everytime he'd swallow it would squeeze out poop from the other end. lol I thought it was funny. Wife thought it was sick.
