I disagree. Yes, cons are aggressive, but so are greens, which CAN and WILL breed even at higher temps. They actually prefer higher temps for breeding, as it allows for more micro-inverts that will feed the young. A drop in temp and then raising it up to 75-78F will actually trigger breeding, not inhibit it. I've personally seen a territorial male green sunfish tear up a pair of cons and eat the young. The cons died after a couple days. The male green was the only other fish in the tank, and the cons were bigger than him.
