I remember reading something about how power plants put out warm water that attracts the manatees farther and farther north, until for some reason the plants shut down for a little while and all the manatees die.

except that last time this kind of climate change happened naturally there weren't 7 billion humans on the planet with a billion automobiles , jets, factories etc etc and it happened a lot slower so animals had time to evolve with the changing conditions.

I have been in the water with Amazonian Manatees, they are wonderful fantastic creatures, true gentle giants.

Their migration is triggered by different stimuli than birds, ie: temperature, not magnetic fields or the position of the sun.
