What are some aquarium plants that can tolerate/thrive in colder water. I'm looking for both submerged and immersed. The temp range would be 55-70 degrees depending on the time of year.

plants local to us?

Definitely a consideration, I would have to do a ton of research to make sure they wont have a detrimental effect, such as some plants can release toxins if stressed, which in a large body of water would not have a big of an impact as in an aquarium setting. I'm more looking for typical plants for aquarium or that could be purchased at LFS, lowes/home depot or online plant stores.

Anubias, bacopa, ludwiga, hydrophila and various crypts would do well providing the rest of the conditions are met. I have 3 cold water tanks.

Above water, any tropical plants that tolerate their roots in the water will do well as I am assuming your tank is inside, so the choice is big but some trial and error maybe in order. Just research and experiment, nothing wrong with that.
