Cold water species for tropical tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This was my aquarium with some big fishes like sturgeon, barbel (barbus barbus),breams (abramis brama),chub....Fishes were ok for many years(maybe 5-6 years). When they were bigger I TOOK them into a pond in our garden.

I'm sure those fish did great. :) But I'm not really following your logic here. You state that they don't need seasonal cooldowns, and then mention that they are kept in unheated tanks that experience exactly those sorts of cooldowns.

I'm agreeing with you that they benefit from the variation. Why state that they don't?

It's impossible to be completely correct or completely incorrect when you are on both sides of the fence at the same time. :)

seams like the pond would vary somewhat day to day and seasonally as well. Like they do. I think we agree but there’s a language barrier. He starts off with “I agree” haha

Maybe. I agree that when he agreed with the double negative agreement posted earlier when we were disagreeing, it may have confused my interpretation of what I had meant to say while agreeing with your disagreement regarding the questionable necessity of cooling down a heated tank as opposed to warming up an unheated tank with tropical temperate coldwater fish experiencing seasonal variations in temperature. :)

Lol, welcome from this North America Boy! Don't worry about the communication glitches...we have much worse failures to communicate amongst people who live and work together every day. :)

There's also a British member on here... esoxlucius esoxlucius ...who speaks English as his first language and I still can't figure out half of his expressions and idioms...:)
