Michigan winters are very cold. Today I think it was about 13 degrees. I think it would be better just to heat it and get some tropicals. Another option to electrical heating would be solar. Use the solar covers from like a pool at night. Just some thought.

So it was -15 degrees friday night............haha......I mean that sucks.

For a pond like that any northern gamefish will be fine.
