Coldwater community

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here's my coldwater community, but bear in mind my tank doesn't get below 68 and is more often around 70 or 71 degrees in the winter (and at times up to 78 in the summer). There are a few fish I have that i know can't handle 65 degrees, so I've starred the ones that can handle it. Also, bear in mind that you might lose your zebra danios to some gaping goldfish mouths in the future - that's what happened to me, and a bunch of other people I know :) Also, the plecos and goldfish need SUPER filtration.

golden barbs are coldwater fish?? thats interesting... and my own 4 year old shubunkin goldfish are around 13 inches long right now, i would never DARE put them in with anything as small as some of the fish you listed :P may i ask how old your shubunkin is and how big it is?

Yep, golden barbs are pretty happy from 65 to 75; anything above 75 for an extended period of time and they don't do well.

My shubunkin is 2 years old and 10 inches long and doesn't touch any of the small fish (yet.) Surprisingly, my mama aenus cory has been through 3 egg laying periods recently, and while the goldfish eat all the eggs they can, I still have had 6 or 7 fry make it to adulthood in the tank with no special care.

Here's a picture of the shubunkin (the water looks bad cause of poor lighting; it isn't really brown!!!):

Yah, she's really, really fat . . .

I overfeed cause I always have baby corys in the tank, and she takes full advantage of it.
