Coldwater pond?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The first steps for your pond are:1 Determine laws for keeping game fish ( or determine how you going to keep it a secret). 2. Put in permanent drain. 3. Put in permanent water supply.

Don't worry I know what I am doing with my gamefish;) . All legal! And it will be mighty difficult to put a drain in the concrete floor of my basement...I have a sump pump that I can run everything into. Also I think I have it figured out....Can I use the water sources from my washer?

I would put a carbon filter on it, but yea it will be fine. You should build the sump with an automatic drip system before everything is started, a lot less hassle that way.

The only thing with that is I would need a water source constantly and if I had the water source all the time then I would be wearing crusty clothes.....:(

You could just 'T' or "Y" off of your water source but I like the idea of using the washers water, you can train the fish to blow bubles to entretain themselves :ROFL: .

(Yeah, I know you meant fresh water :screwy: ). But it would be entertaining.

Hahahahahahahaha:ROFL: . I didn't even understand what you were talking about until you said I knew you meant freshwater. So would it make a differance on like water pressure for the washer if I put a Y adapter thing on it? And how hard is it to put a drip system in?

Chad

I am certainly no expert in this, but adding an additional diversion will decrease water pressure. And i imagine it is harder than it looks on paper, but nothing a retired plumber looking to make some 'cash in hand' can’t deal with hehe

You can buy screw on adapters...lol

Chad

Correct...But spring for the brass / bronze adapter.

As far as pressure drop...no.

As far as water volume drop...I have 600gph take away 1/2gph for drip system...Hhmmm...No

Drip systems usually are not dechlorinated, tho it wouldn't be hard to do, just another step in the system.

Here's the latest drip system up on the forum: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49289

There are several others on here too;
